Leaders of Today, NOT Tomorrow!

We have something incredible going on at our church.  We’re being led by our youth.  Our young people are now the majority of our congregation at Grace North, and they are leading a revival at our church.  November 5, 7 young people demonstrated their love for and relationship with God by being baptized.  It was an incredible morning, filled with an incredible energy and hope.  God is moving in the city of Fort Wayne in an incredible way, and he’s starting with our young people.  The Bible talks about the faith one should have.

1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”  2He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And our young people are listening to God and His calling on their lives.  They’re excited about God and want to share it with everyone.  God encourages this very idea in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

I’ve struggled at work since I entered the workforce with people taking me seriously.  I’ve always been too young.  Now that I’ve been in the field for over 10 years, I’d like to try to transition into a management role in the next 5 years or so.  However, no one will hire someone unless they already have management experience.  I feel like I’m stuck in this cycle of people looking down on me because I am young or “inexperienced.”  But to those who refuse to let that stop them, God gives them incredible opportunities, and an incredible power.  He gives them His Holy Spirit.

To the youth and kids at Grace who have stepped out in faith, THANK YOU.  Thank you for bringing your energy and your passion for God in such an amazing way.  I can’t wait for that enthusiasm to spread across the entire city.  I’m going to be part of a youth program at Lifeway Bible Fellowship, and I want that to be our main focus.  I want each and every student to feel empowered.  I want them to feel the power of the Holy Spirit come upon them, so they can be witnesses to all people and unto the ends of the Earth.  These young people are leading the church of TODAY.  They do NOT need to wait until they are a certain age.  God can use them to do amazing things and lead amazing change in our city right where they are at.  I am so excited to see how God continues to work!
